Special exhibition starts on August 22nd – advance ticket sales start now
Darmstadt. The Hessian State Museum Darmstadt will present the new immersive special exhibition "Clouds. Experience and Understand" August 22, 2025 to January 11, 2026. Advance ticket sales began on August 1 – tickets are available online at www.hlmd.de or directly at the museum ticket counters.
Impressive cloud formations and VR experiences
replicas of various cloud types some up to eight meters in size, creating an immersive nature experience within the exhibition space. A VR station impressively simulates sudden weather changes, thunderstorms, and tornadoes . The so-called "Sky Room," with its specially designed cloud-shaped seats, invites visitors to linger and dream.
In addition to the emotional approach, the exhibition also offers comprehensive scientific background information : information on cloud types, climate, animal rain and weather phenomena is supplemented by new research results and presented in a way that is understandable for visitors of all ages.
An exhibition for all the senses
The exhibition uniquely combines natural science and sensory experience . It invites visitors to become cloud researchers themselves and to better understand the dynamic processes of the Earth's atmosphere.
