Rally and installation on Peace Square on October 5 – under the patronage of Mayor Hanno Benz
The German-Israeli Society (DIG), Darmstadt Working Group memorial event on Peace Square on Sunday, October 5, 2025. The occasion is the second anniversary of the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023 , in which more than 1,200 Israelis were murdered, injured, or abducted.
Program of the event
- 2:00 PM: Start of installation with introduction
- 5:30 p.m.: Central rally
The DIG explains that the event is intended to "send a strong signal of solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community, as well as a clear message against terror, anti-Semitism and all forms of Jew-hatred".
Patronage underscores importance
Under the patronage of Mayor Hanno Benz, the rally will also address the current situation, according to the organizers. Philip Krämer, chairman of the German-Israeli Society (DIG) Darmstadt, emphasizes:
“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Israeli hostages, including German citizens, are still being held by Hamas under the most horrific conditions. We must not remain silent, but raise our voices for their release.”
Broad support from partner organizations
The commemorative event is being held jointly with the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation Darmstadt eV , the Stolpersteine Darmstadt Working Group , the City of Science Darmstadt , the Friends of the Liberal Synagogue Darmstadt eV and the Jewish Community of Darmstadt .
The German-Israeli Society expressly invites all citizens to participate in order to jointly send a clear signal for solidarity, humanity and against anti-Semitism.
