Memories and documents relating to the history of the paper mill are sought
The Eberstadt Dotter Foundation is supporting a research project on the history of the former Papiermüller company in Eberstadt and is calling on citizens to share their memories. The company, which once produced paper products for the region and throughout Germany, shaped the economic landscape of Darmstadt for decades. Now, its history will be further explored through eyewitness accounts and archival material.
A company with history
Papiermüller produced paper goods such as receipt templates, letterheads, bags, and coasters for bakeries and confectioneries for decades. The factory at Pfungstädter Straße 35-37 closed in 1980. Today, the former company buildings have been repurposed for residential and commercial use, but their history should not be forgotten.
Call for eyewitnesses
Helmut Brebeck the current co-owner of the buildings , is researching the history of the Papiermüller company as the local historian for the third season of the television series . To gain the most comprehensive picture possible, he is looking for former employees or residents who remember working at Papiermüller or who can share stories from the neighborhood.
Those interested are invited to contribute their experiences, documents, or photos to enrich the research. Old letters or records that reveal something about daily work life or company culture are also of great interest.
