Renewed cooperation agreement should improve the care of young people in the Groß-Gerau district
The youth welfare offices of the district of Groß-Gerau and the city of Rüsselsheim am Main as well as the Vitos children's and youth clinic for mental health in Riedstadt have officially renewed their many years of cooperation. On Wednesday, May 28, 2025 , representatives of the institutions involved signed the updated cooperation agreement in the Groß-Gerau district administration. Among them were District Administrator Thomas Will and Rüsselsheim Mayor Murat Karakaya , both of whom emphasized the importance of closer networking.
Common responsibility for burdened families
The first procedural agreement between the Groß-Gerau district youth welfare office and the clinic in Riedstadt was closed in 2005. The Rüsselsheim city youth welfare office has also been an official partner since 2011. The aim of the cooperation is to provide children and adolescents with psychological stress as best as possible- especially against the background of increasing challenges in youth welfare and child and adolescent psychiatry.
"The families are now facing enormous challenges," emphasizes Juliane Hantzsche , head of the Rüsselsheim youth welfare office. The consequences of Corona pandemic, wars like in Ukraine and economic uncertainties would have increased the need for support. The demand for psychotherapeutic help continuously grows. The renewed agreement should ensure that affected families are "not left alone".
Closer coordination and more synergy effects
The cooperation partners rely on regular exchange , shared training as well as transparent and more efficient processes. Christine Plenzig also underlines the advantages: "We want to reduce hurdles for families and ensure seamless help."
A central goal of the agreement is to optimize cooperation across system boundaries - for example between the clinic, youth welfare and other social services. This is intended to ensure that access to help can be quickly and unbureaucratically possible. "A close cooperation between youth welfare offices and psychiatric institutions is crucial," added the clinic directors Dr. Annette Duve and Thilo Ast from Vitos. This was the only way to effectively close supply gaps.
Future -proof through interdisciplinary shoulder closure
In view of the increasing shortage of skilled workers and limited resources, the cooperation is to be permanently based on a solid basis. autonomy of the institutions involved remains preserved. The aim is to bundle the existing offers as best as possible and to meet the individual needs of children and adolescents.
