"Sharks in the Adriatic" by Susanne Schmitt
The Literature Initiative of the Darmstadt KulturStärken e. V. association invites you to an author reading with Susanne Schmitt in the gallery of the Rosengarten restaurant as part of the Literature Scene South Hesse series. Susanne Schmitt will read from her crime novel "Sharks in the Adriatic," published by Coortextverlag in 2024, Altheim.
A friend's desperate plea for help lures Cuban Commissioner Hernandez to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Claudia's fiancé, Nikos, has been found dead in a hotel's wine cellar. But was he murdered? And what options does the commissioner, as a foreign police officer, even have to investigate professionally? Hernandez gets to work and uncovers more than one motive. He would much rather be at home right now, taking care of his family's needs.
Susanne Schmitt (born 1979) works as a corrections officer in the public sector. After more than a quarter of a century in this profoundly formative profession, nothing human is foreign to her. Daily contact with crime and an interest in literature inspired her first novel, published in 2022 under the title "Canadian Roulette." Another great passion of the author is travel. Far from home, the first ideas are born. Places visited become settings in her novels, as in her new work, "Sharks in the Adriatic." Her writing is characterized by a gripping plot combined with a touch of holiday atmosphere and exoticism. Susanne Schmitt lives in Aschaffenburg.
