General meeting of the association sets the course for a varied cultural year
Like the Association of Cultural Summer Südhessen e. V. reported in a press release, 2024 was a complete success with over 250 events in the entire region. At the general meeting on February 18, the course for the cultural year 2025 - with new formats, a stronger digital presence and the promotion of regional cultural projects.
Review: A versatile cultural program 2024
The 31st Cultural Summer South Hesse brought an impressive range of events to the region. The highlights included:
- Trommer Sommer (Bergstrasse district) : Interactive theater formats for children and families
- GG Local Open-Air summer (Groß-Gerau district) : Musical variety of jazz, cabaret and comedy
- Jazz summer Rödermark (Offenbach district) : top-class jazz concerts
- Night of the Museums (Odenwaldkreis) : Cultural discovery tour with classic car buses
- 50 years BBK Darmstadt-Südhessen (Darmstadt) : Jubilee exhibitions
In addition, innovative projects such as the bicycle cinema in Babenhausen , in which spectators with muscle strength operated the film projector, and the Just for Fun Express , a mobile cabaret format that inspired with circus, shadow theater and comedy.
"The impressive range and high quality of the events show the enormous importance of the cultural summer in southern Hesse," said District Administrator Klaus Peter Schellhaas , chairman of the cultural summer association.
Outlook for 2025: Opening in Rüsselsheim, new formats and digital priorities
For 2025, the cultural summer of South Hesse announces a number of exciting innovations:
- Opening on June 28, 2025 at the Rüsselsheim Film Days , which for the first time are the focus of the opening weekend.
- Days of the open studios on September 27 and 28, 2025 , in which artists from southern Hesse open their studios.
- Theater network south meeting on May 8, 2025 in the Bannoser Theater Brensbach , a forum for regional theater professionals.
- Program presentation on May 9, 2025 in the Darmstadt regional council.
A special focus is on the digital visibility of the events . In addition, cooperation with other Hessian cultural summer is to be intensified. The funding for 2025 has already been decided, so that art and cultural workers will soon receive their notices.
