Music, community and a good atmosphere in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal and the Orangery
The science city of Darmstadt senior citizens to two special events as part of its Friday, November 21, 2025 , the first dance café in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal (Schwanenstraße 42), followed on Sunday, December 7, 2025 , by the traditional Advent concert in the Orangerie (Bessunger Straße 44).
Dance café in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal
From 2:30 pm to 5 pm Dance Café offers music, movement, and socializing. Dance to your heart's content to live music . Admission is free ; coffee, cake, and drinks are available for a small fee . Registration is not required .
Advent concert in the Orangery
The Advent concert on December 7th marks the festive conclusion of the year's program. The Darmstadt Instrumental Society 1882 e.V. presents two concerts – at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – under the direction of Mihail Katev . The program includes works by Leonard Bernstein , George Gershwin , Aaron Copland , and Nigel Hess . Tenor Mark Williams accompanies the orchestra, and Puschan Mousavi Malvani will provide commentary .
“The Advent concert is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy good music, to get in the mood for Advent and simply to have a good time together,” explains Mayor and Social Affairs Officer Barbara Akdeniz .
Tickets and information
Tickets for the Advent concert will be available from Monday, November 3rd , for €7.50 . Advance tickets can be purchased at the district offices in Arheilgen, Eberstadt, and Wixhausen , as well as in the town hall foyer (Luisenplatz 5a) during their respective opening hours.

Both events are aimed at residents aged 65 and over Proof of age required when purchasing tickets number of tickets is limited to four per person .
