The association sees an improvement in the quality of life in the city center through clear rules.
Darmstadt Citymarketing e.V. expressly supports the initiative of the City of Darmstadt for a new public safety ordinance. From the association's perspective, the regulation is an important step towards improving the quality of life and safety in the city center.
“Businesses in the city center depend on an orderly public space where customers can feel comfortable,” explains Moritz Koch, chairman of the city marketing association. The new regulation is a response to developments that have been increasingly perceived as disruptive in recent years.
City marketing officials particularly welcome the fact that stricter regulations for loitering and begging in the city center are to be introduced. "Our members repeatedly report situations in these areas where guests and customers feel harassed or uncomfortable," Koch continued. The issue is not the legal relevance of individual behaviors, but rather people's subjective sense of security.
The association emphasizes that the new regulation is not merely symbolic politics, but can bring about concrete improvements. "Our members from retail, gastronomy, the hotel industry, and services would see the implementation of the regulation as a sign of appreciation from the city," Koch concluded.
