SV Darmstadt 98 overturn a 0-2 deficit – pictures of the comeback now on DA.news
Mental giants? In Braunschweig, Darmstadt 98 lived up to this reputation once again. Despite trailing 0-2 at halftime and missing their top scorers, SV Darmstadt 98 fought back and secured a well-deserved point with a 2-2 draw.
Initially, things seemed to be going against the team from southern Hesse. Eintracht Braunschweig had the better chances in the opening phase, but Marcel Schuhen made some excellent saves against Opoku and Ehlers. Then, just before halftime, came the quickfire double: Aydin converted a penalty (41st minute), before Gomez made it 2-0 after a long throw-in (45+2).
But after the break, Darmstadt showed a different side. With high pressure, pace, and clear superiority, they worked their way back into the game. After a short corner, Sergio López delivered a perfectly weighted cross into the box, and Matej Maglica headed home to pull one back (56').
The center-back ultimately became the match-winner in the comeback: In the 78th minute, Killian Corredor headed on another López cross to the far post, where Maglica, in true striker fashion, made it 2-2. Special praise was also given to assistant coach Darius Scholtysik, who had practiced the tactical variations during the week.
A strong second half, another comeback – and another point for Darmstadt
