Nuremberg equalizes after falling behind – Photo gallery
SV Darmstadt 98 took a point back to southern Hesse from their away match against 1. FC Magdeburg . In the 1-1 (0-0) draw on matchday 26, SV 98 struggled for long stretches but managed to equalize after conceding an unfortunate goal.
The Lilies had their first early attempt: Niklas Schmidt set up Marco Richter with a precise pass, but his shot from the right side of the field was too unplaced and posed no major problems for goalkeeper Reimann (6th minute).
Few scoring opportunities before the break
After the initial phase, the game calmed down considerably. Both teams focused primarily on controlling possession, and the defensive lines remained compact. As a result, scoring opportunities were scarce for a considerable period, with many attacks fizzling out in midfield.
So the teams went into the locker rooms with the score still 0-0.
Unlucky goal and quick response
After the change of ends, the hosts increased the pressure and took the lead in the 63rd minute with a bizarre goal: A long cross bounced off Fabian Nürnberger's chest and from there into his own net, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
Darmstadt's response came shortly afterwards. Nürnberger equalized in the 67th minute with a long-range shot.
In the final stages, both teams tried to apply pressure, but clear scoring opportunities remained elusive. The match ended 1-1 – and another away point for Darmstadt.
