SV Darmstadt 98 earned a well-deserved 0-0 draw SV Elversberg . In an intense and, for long stretches, high-quality match, Darmstadt had a slight advantage in possession but failed to capitalize on their best chances. The hosts also threatened the goal shortly before the final whistle, but the proverbial lucky punch never came.
Despite a light drizzle, a fast-paced and open game developed from the outset. Darmstadt dominated possession, combining well and repeatedly pushing the Saarlanders back into their own half. However, neither Hornby nor Lidberg could convert their superiority into goals.
Elversberg waited for counter-attacking opportunities and created some good chances, especially in the final stages – but goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen made a strong save to secure the point. In the end, it was a fair draw that both teams could live with.
After 14 matchdays, SV 98 now sits in fifth place 26 points – and remains within reach of the top group.
