Friedensplatz becomes a meeting place for design, craftsmanship and music
Darmstadt. On the third weekend of August (August 16 and 17, 2025), Friedensplatz will once again be transformed into a center for creative design and quality craftsmanship. At the traditional Darmstadt Arts and Crafts Market, exhibitors from all over Germany will present their works of wood, glass, ceramics, metal, precious stones, fabric, and leather. The offerings range from fine jewelry and ceramic products to fashion, design, and decorative items.
Official opening by the mayor
Mayor Hanno Benz will open the market on Saturday, August 16, at 11 a.m. He praised the craft market as a place that combines tradition, modern design, and personal encounters, transforming Friedensplatz into a space for exchange and inspiration.
Handcraft to touch and experience
In addition to sales, many stalls offer insights into the creation of the products. Visitors can watch jewelry design, belt fitting, wood carving, or sewing – some pieces can even be customized on site. This transforms the market into a vibrant workshop and exhibition space in one.
Music and participatory activities
- Saturday, 10 a.m.–1 p.m.: Nils Penzel
- Sunday, 1 p.m.–4 p.m.: Heiner Herchenröder at the CityKlavier.
The MöbelBoxes will also be offering seating and games on both days. On Sunday, the Coffeebike will provide freshly brewed coffee specialties.
