The Green Party, SPD, CDU and Volt parliamentary groups welcome the RP's decision
The approval of the 2025 budget by the Darmstadt Regional Council has brought relief to the city of science. After months of uncertainty, investments in key areas such as sports, culture, daycare centers, schools, and social services be implemented. Measures for climate-friendly urban development are also now within reach.

“Finally, the funds that keep our city functioning are flowing – for sports, culture and social services, for daycare centers, schools and a climate-friendly city,” explained Eva Bredow-Cordier (Alliance 90/The Greens). She added that they are working to prevent such delays in the future: “People have a right to a functioning democracy in livable cities.”
The SPD parliamentary group emphasized the importance for clubs and organizations. "This is good news for Darmstadt, but primarily for the clubs in our city. With the approved investments, we are securing essential public services. We expect the regional council to approve the 2026 budget more quickly," said parliamentary group leader Michael Siebel .
Caroline Groß (CDU) emphasizes: “We are delighted about the approval of the 2025 budget, which ends the waiting, anxiety, and uncertainty for many clubs, institutions, and offices. Infrastructure projects in transportation, schools/daycare centers, administration, and digitalization can now be implemented. Everything has been done to obtain the earliest possible budget approval for 2026.”
Volt also views the decision positively: "The budget for 2025 has finally been approved – that's very good news for Darmstadt," explained parliamentary group leader Ana Lena Herrling . After a long process with many discussions and new requirements, solutions were found together: "The administration and clubs now have planning certainty."
