Autumn concerts on November 7th and 8th in Darmstadt with works by Lefèvre, Haydn and Beethoven – admission is free
The Darmstadt Chamber Symphony Orchestra will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. To mark the occasion, the ensemble will give two autumn concerts in Darmstadt in November. The program will include works by Jean-Xavier Lefèvre, Joseph Haydn, and Ludwig van Beethoven.
The concerts will take place on Saturday, November 7th, at the Darmstadt State Theatre and on Sunday, November 8th, at St. Paul's Church. Admission is free for both events.
From Lefèvre to Beethoven's "Pastoral"
The program opens with Jean-Xavier Lefèvre's "Hymne à l'agriculture". The orchestra points to a musical connection to Beethoven: According to the ensemble, a theme from Lefèvre's work can also be found in a similar form in a movement of Beethoven's 6th Symphony.
Next up is Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major. The solo part will be performed by Angela Elsässer.
The concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68, known as the "Pastoral." Mikael Despres will conduct both concerts.
