Cash, hashish and a pepper spray pistol seized during a targeted operation
As part of the "Safe City Center" , police conducted targeted checks in Darmstadt's city center on Thursday (August 20) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Supported by officers from the Hessian riot police, the officers checked a total of 47 people and 19 bicycles. Particular attention was paid to the larger bicycle parking areas.
Plainclothes officers also targeted bicycle racks and the parking lot of a swimming pool in the Alsfelder Straße area. Around 5:50 p.m., they attempted to check the identities of three men, who fled. A 25-year-old man was apprehended and taken into custody.
During a search of the vehicle, police found approximately €15,000 in cash . The group also discarded a backpack during their escape, which contained further cash in the five-figure range as well as several hundred grams of hashish. Investigators also seized a pepper spray pistol and several mobile phones in the vicinity of the men's vehicle.
The 25-year-old was taken to the police station for identification procedures. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him on suspicion of trafficking a substantial quantity of narcotics .
