Interior Minister Poseck and Regional President Hilligardt acknowledge the importance of the state's intermediate authority for southern Hesse
Darmstadt. The Darmstadt Regional Council (RP) 80th anniversary on Monday (November 4th) . Among the guests were representatives from Hessian state politics , municipalities , authorities and institutions saxophone quartet of the Hessian State Police Orchestra provided the musical accompaniment .
Interior Minister Poseck: “A central component of the Hessian administration”
In his keynote address, Hesse's Interior Minister Prof. Dr. Roman Poseck the central role of the Darmstadt Regional Council for the development of southern Hesse:
"For 80 years, the Darmstadt Regional Council has stood for reliability, citizen-friendliness, and a strong administration. From the post-war period to the present day, it has made a significant contribution to establishing order, strengthening trust in government action, and securing the foundations of our democratic society."
Poseck praised the regional government as a reliable partner of the state government and as an important regional interface between the state, municipalities, business and the citizenry.
Hilligardt: “Reliable partner and strong service provider”
, Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt looked back on eight decades of eventful administrative history:
“In the eight decades of its existence, the tasks of the Regional Council have changed repeatedly, but the core mission has remained the same: to implement the values of freedom, democracy and the rule of law in public administration.”
Hilligardt emphasized that the Regional Council today acts as an active participant in the areas of internal affairs, municipal affairs, planning, infrastructure, environment and occupational safety :
"The Regional Council is a reliable partner and strong service provider for companies, institutions and citizens of the region."
Looking to the future, Hilligardt emphasized the RP's responsibility for the economically strong and sustainable development of southern Hesse:
"We are fully committed to ensuring that our region remains future-proof. Transparency and citizen engagement are crucial to strengthening trust in democracy and its institutions."
Mayor Benz: "The founding of the RP represents a new democratic beginning"
Darmstadt's Mayor Hanno Benz conveyed the congratulations of the City of Darmstadt.
"The founding of the Regional Council represents the democratic new beginning after the war," said Benz. He thanked the Regional Council for its excellent cooperation and its significant role in regional development over eight decades.
Background: 80 years of the Darmstadt Regional Council
The Darmstadt Regional Council founded on November 4, 1945. Dr. Ludwig Bergsträsser , one of the fathers of the Basic Law (Germany's constitution). As early as April 1945, the American military government had tasked him with establishing a regional administration.
1,600 people in eight departments at its locations in Darmstadt, Frankfurt, Wiesbaden , and other offices .
