Work is now scheduled to start no earlier than April 7th
The city of Darmstadt has announced that the start of construction for the new cycle path towards Roßdorf has been postponed. Work can now begin no earlier than April 7, 2026.
Delay due to necessary ordnance check
The reason for the postponement is the last-minute engagement of a new specialist company for ordnance survey. A previously planned company had withdrawn.
As a result, the required 14-day notification for the site inspection could not be submitted in time. This notification is a prerequisite for the subsequent investigations in the construction area.
Safety before construction begins is the focus
The purpose of this notification is to identify potential unexploded ordnance or other safety-relevant hazardous materials in the soil. Within this timeframe, it will be assessed whether additional measures are necessary to eliminate risks to construction workers and the public.
Only after this process has been completed can the actual construction work begin.
