Over 150 vehicles inspected – Several investigations and fines issued.
Darmstadt. As part of "Security Week 2025," the South Hesse Police Headquarters, together with several other authorities, conducted extensive checks in Darmstadt and the surrounding area . A total of 154 vehicles and 309 people checked.
Hessian Police Headquarters Operations , the Darmstadt Regional Council , the Darmstadt Trade Office Darmstadt Tax Investigation , and the Darmstadt-Dieburg District Veterinary Office also participated in the operation .
Violations in restaurants and investigations launched.
Between 2:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., law enforcement officers inspected three restaurants – two in Darmstadt and one in Kranichstein. The trade office and tax investigation unit found violations related to gambling machines , issued fines totaling several thousand euros , sealed two machines , and confiscated one.
The veterinary office also documented hygiene deficiencies in all three establishments and imposed further restrictions and additional fines. The police initiated investigations for illegal residence and breach of seals .
Checks in the city center and traffic
5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., officers checked the identities of over 60 people in the Herrngarten park and at Luisenplatz . A stolen bicycle was recovered and two investigations were initiated for violations of the Narcotics Act .
In addition, stationary traffic controls were carried out on the B3 (Rüdesheimer Straße) and on the B26 near Roßdorf . A total of 83 vehicles and 115 people checked. In at least six cases, there was suspicion that drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol . Another case involves suspected forgery .
Summary of Security Week
In total, the police initiated 26 investigations . Authorities estimate that fines exceeding €40,000 will be imposed. The police stated that the aim of the checks is to make crime and public order offenses less attractive and the public's sense of security – especially during the darker months.
Despite the numerous measures, that southern Hesse remains the safest region in Hesse .
