Darmstadt, the city of science, invites you to a parents' evening with media educator Moritz Becker on 23 October
The Science City of Darmstadt parents to a lecture on on Thursday, October 23, 2025 , at 7 p.m. The event will take place in the auditorium of the North Vocational School Center . The speaker will be Moritz Becker , a social worker, parent media trainer, and father himself.
Becker works for the Hanover-based association smiley eV , which organizes parent events nationwide, conducts training courses for teachers, and visits up to 1,000 school classes .
How parents can better understand their children's digital worlds
The speaker will demonstrate in an understandable way how children and young people use media and offer practical support for media education at home. The goal is to help parents and grandparents teach children how to use the internet and smartphones competently and safely – even if they themselves grew up without digital media.
The focus is on topics such as cyberbullying , online communication , and digital leisure activities . The aim is to realistically assess the causes and effects of problematic usage patterns.
