Construction work will begin on March 30th along the toboggan run
Darmstadt will begin expanding the cycle path towards Roßdorf March 30, 2026. August 2026 .
Upgrades for increased safety and comfort
The city has announced that the existing path will be significantly improved over a length of approximately two kilometers. The path, which is currently partly unpaved and damaged, will receive a continuous asphalt surface.
The following are planned:
a minimum width of three meters for safe oncoming traffic,
new street lighting along the route,
and side markings for better orientation.
The aim is to make the important connection for cycling between Darmstadt and Roßdorf significantly safer and more comfortable.
Full closure during construction work
The road will be completely closed during the construction period. This also affects access to the Darmstadt fishing hut.
Detours will be set up for cyclists:
From Darmstadt towards Roßdorf: via Schnampelweg, Oppermannswiesenschneise and Stellweg.
From Roßdorf towards Darmstadt: via Stellweg, Oppermannswiesenschneise and Schnampelweg.
A detour will also be set up for visitors and delivery traffic to the fishing hut.
Funding from the state of Hesse
The expansion is supported by the state of Hesse as part of its transport infrastructure funding program. The total cost for the cycle path, including lighting, is approximately €1.6 million .
