Donation enables the purchase of new bicycles, helmets and other materials for traffic education
The Darmstadt Youth Traffic School has received a donation totaling €5,000. Volker and Daniel Hofmann, both working in the freight forwarding industry, initially contributed €2,500. The SVG Straßenverkehrsgenossenschaft Hessen eG (Hesse Road Transport Cooperative) then doubled the amount.
The donation handover took place on the grounds of the youth traffic school in the Orangerie. In addition to the donors and SVG board member Alexander Hiller, Mayor Hanno Benz and Head of Mobility Paul Georg Wandrey also participated.
The youth traffic school plans to use the money to purchase new bicycles, bicycle helmets and other materials needed for its work.
Preparing children for road traffic at an early age
The youth traffic school teaches children knowledge and practical skills for safe participation in road traffic. Appropriate equipment is particularly necessary for practical bicycle training.
“Traffic education is a crucial element in helping children learn to navigate traffic safely and confidently from an early age,” explain Benz and Wandrey. At the same time, adults also have a role to play: “Children need special consideration, attention, and responsible behavior from adults.”
The mayor and the head of the mobility department thanked Volker and Daniel Hofmann as well as the SVG Straßenverkehrsgenossenschaft Hessen eG (Hesse Road Transport Cooperative) for their support. "The donation helps the youth traffic school to continue its important work with good and safe equipment."
