Discover Square Dancing in Arheilgen on 8 and 15 September
DARMSTADT-ARHEILGEN – Movement, music, and community are the focus of the Darmstompers' taster evenings . The square dance club opens its doors at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 8, and Monday, September 15, 2025, in the "Zum Goldenen Löwen" hall (Frankfurter Landstraße 153).
Dance form with tradition and surprise effect
Square dancing is a dance in which four couples are arranged in a square. Unlike classical dances, there is no set choreography. Instead, a caller spontaneously dictates the figures, which the dancers follow directly to the music. This creates a varied blend of movement and rhythm without the need to memorize fixed sequences.
"For us, it's about the joy of movement and dancing together to music – without any pressure to perform," emphasizes Herbert Plach, president of the Darmstompers. "Square dancing promotes fitness, socializing, and a good mood."
Open to everyone without prior knowledge
No previous experience or a regular dance partner is required to participate. People of all ages are welcome – whether alone, in pairs, or in small groups. Comfortable shoes are sufficient; prior registration is not necessary.
