Open Day celebrates the opening of the new daycare center in Riedstadt
"An der Riedbahn" daycare center was officially opened on Saturday, August 30th . Mayor Marcus Kretschmann, daycare director Eva-Tamara Demus, and her deputy Anja Müller welcomed numerous guests to the open house.
Demus showed her appreciation with a red carpet, which she walked across together with her team. "I have great respect for your educational work," the daycare director emphasized. A total of 19 qualified educators work at the new facility, supplemented by trainees, additional staff, and personnel for housekeeping and cleaning.
Long planning and construction time
The development of the daycare center dates back to 2017, when initial plans for converting a former supermarket began at the town hall. Ultimately, the city decided to act as the developer itself in order to access over €1.3 million in subsidies. The pandemic, supply chain disruptions, and cost increases delayed construction, so that the structural work could not begin until August 2022. Following a move from temporary accommodation in the Wolfskehlen community center in April 2024, the official opening has now taken place.
The total costs, after deducting subsidies, amount to approximately 8.1 million euros. Four kindergarten groups and two nursery groups are available on an area of 1,550 square meters. At full capacity, up to 124 children can be cared for here.
Joy over new furnishings
"Something truly wonderful has been created here, with outstanding management and a fantastic team," said Mayor Kretschmann. Numerous guests took advantage of the open house to tour the new facilities. A variety of games and activities were available for children, while food and drink stalls provided refreshments.
With the opening of the Kita An der Riedbahn, childcare in Riedstadt is secured for the coming years.
