Strengthening knowledge about dementia
“In the approximately 90-minute training sessions, participants receive information about the definition, causes, characteristics, and progression of dementia,” explains Stefanie Ondruch , senior citizens' representative for the city of Griesheim.
The goal is to disseminate knowledge, reduce barriers to access, and enable people with dementia to live self-determined lives . Employees of the city administration and volunteers in Griesheim have already participated in such training.
Part of the Dementia Network
The town of Griesheim is a member of the district-wide "Dementia Network ," which offers training courses. The nationwide "Dementia Partners" raises awareness of the needs of people with dementia and their families.
1.6 million people in Germany live with this condition. We encounter them not only within families, but also in everyday life, in our neighborhoods, and at work.
