Strengthening knowledge about dementia
"In the approximately 90-minute training sessions, participants receive information about the definition, causes, characteristics, and progression of dementia," explains Stefanie Ondruch , senior citizen representative for the city of Griesheim.
The goal is to spread knowledge, break down barriers, and enable people with dementia to live independently . City employees and volunteers in Griesheim have already participated in such training sessions.
Part of the Dementia Network
The city of Griesheim is a member of the district-wide "Dementia Network ," which offers the training courses. The nationwide "Dementia Partner" raises awareness of the needs of people with dementia and their families.
1.6 million people live in Germany . We encounter them not only in families, but also in everyday life, in our neighborhoods, and at work.
