Support for people with dementia and their relatives
During the final city council meeting of the year, the council members traditionally collected donations for a charitable organization in Darmstadt. This year, the donation went to DemenzForumDarmstadt e. V. On February 7, 2025, City Council Speaker Yücel Akdeniz, together with Hans-Jörg Daum, Head of the City Council Office, presented a donation of €2,000 to Managing Director Tatjana Kießling-Wirth.
Valuable work for those affected and their families
“Supporting people with dementia and their families is a key priority for us as the city council. The Dementia Forum has been doing outstanding work in this area for 25 years and is an important resource for those affected and their families.” , Yücel Akdeniz emphasized the importance of the organization. The association offers advice, support, and meeting spaces to ensure that family members are not left alone in this often challenging situation. The donation will help the Dementia Forum to further expand its services .
New projects: The Memory House is being built
The donation is a vital support for the association. Tatjana Kießling-Wirth expresses her gratitude on behalf of DemenzForumDarmstadt e. V. and emphasizes: "With this money, we can further expand our services for people with dementia and their families. In particular, our new Memory House, which will open in the summer of 2025, will be an important resource for those affected and their families."
About the Dementia Forum Darmstadt e. V.
The Dementia Forum Darmstadt e. V. is the local Alzheimer's Society – a self-help group for people with dementia – and serves as a contact point for people with dementia and their families in Darmstadt. The association offers counseling, discussion groups, visiting services, and seminars . Its goal is to support those affected and raise public awareness of dementia .
