The initiative “Your Future #REAL:DIGITAL” showcases the opportunities of digitalization
District of Groß-Gerau. On July 2, 2025, the Hessian Minister of Education, Armin Schwarz, visited the Groß-Gerau Vocational Schools (BSGG). The occasion was the school's participation in the statewide initiative "Your Future #REAL:DIGITAL," which equips young people with digital skills for their professional future. The visit was made possible by the district's school social work department, which actively works to integrate innovative educational opportunities into everyday school life.
The initiative teaches students how digital technologies will influence their future working lives. At eight interactive stations, participants were able to explore topics such as Smart Mobility, Smart Energy, Smart Health, and Smart Living – using tablets, robots, and practical examples.
Questions such as "Why does a roofer need a drone?" or "How is digitalization changing medical care?" were discussed together with the so-called Digi-Coaches. These coaches come from STEM and educational fields and conduct the workshops directly in the classroom.
During the minister's visit, the young people also had the opportunity to speak directly with Armin Schwarz. This highlighted the importance of digital skills for career orientation.
The initiative "Your Future #REAL:DIGITAL" is part of a Hesse-wide career orientation tour, bringing practical knowledge directly into schools. Further information is available online at:
