From May 1st, no more printed passport photos will be accepted in Darmstadt
From May 1, 2025, the passport and identity card of the Science City of Darmstadt as well as in the registration points of Arheilgen, Eberstadt and Wixhausen may only be used for digital, biometric photographs for new ID documents. Printed photos are then no longer accepted.
The basis for the change is the updated passport and ID card ordinance , which is intended to create higher security standards for German ID documents. The aim is to ensure the exhibition safer and manipulation -proof ID cards.
Two options for creating the digital photo
- Photo studios : Citizens can continue to have their digital photo made in a photo studio. It is important that the studio is connected to the federal certified cloud solution The photo studios themselves provide information themselves.
- Directly on site : Alternatively, photographs can also be recorded passport and ID card The fee for this is 6 euros in addition to the respective ID fee.
The creation is made directly at the switch by trained employees - photographs of babies or small children can also be recorded easily. The photographs are transmitted in accordance with data protection via a certified cloud of the Federal Office of Security in Information Technology (BSI).
