Cooperation with start-up Scave makes everyday school life easier and strengthens digital education
Darmstadt. The science city of Darmstadt is taking another step towards digital school administration: Together with the Weiterstadt-based start-up Scave, it has concluded a cooperation agreement for the introduction of digital school ID cards for all secondary schools in Darmstadt.
Since the start of the 2025/26 "YourStudentID" app has been available to all secondary schools (general education and vocational). Schools can voluntarily join the central school authority license.
“With the introduction of the digital school ID card, we are improving everyday school life in a very practical way and sending a clear signal for the ongoing digitalization in Darmstadt’s education system,” explains Holger Klötzner, Head of Digital and School Affairs .
Smart solution for everyday life and administration
The digital school ID card not only simplifies the daily lives of students, but also the work of schools: data can be updated quickly, and lost ID cards can be deactivated immediately. In addition, the app offers further functions such as storing library cards , receiving notifications , and access data directly through the application.
“By concluding this cooperation agreement, we can demonstrate how much the workload at schools is reduced by our product and how the everyday life of students is made simpler and more digital,” says Leon Matijasevic , co-founder and CEO of Scave .
His co-founder Hendrik Leonhardt adds with a wink: "As a student, I was often annoyed when I forgot my ID and missed out on student discounts. All the better that we've now solved this problem with YourStudentID."
Positive feedback from practical experience
Positive feedback is also coming from schools. Dr. Gerald Hubacek , headmaster of the Martin-Behaim-School , draws a clear conclusion after two years of practical experience:
"Modern and sustainable, user-friendly, accepted for discounts, widely applicable, easy to manage, integrated into existing systems and – very importantly – always available."
The rollout of the app has already taken place at almost all participating schools and will be fully completed shortly.
