Darmstadt. The science city of Darmstadt has a new head for its IT department Detlef Deinert leading the city's digital division since the beginning of September digitalization of the city administration forward and modernizing its technical infrastructure.
The native of Hesse previously worked for the Hessian state administration , where, as head of accounting development, he was responsible for, among other things, the introduction of new processes and the adaptation of SAP applications .
New course in the city's digital strategy
Digital Affairs Officer Holger Klötzner expressly welcomes the new addition:
“The digital infrastructure of the Darmstadt city administration is outdated and will be systematically replaced and further developed in the coming years. The IT department has been significantly restructured for this purpose and now faces new challenges. With the new management model for IT and digitalization projects, as well as a revised digital strategy, we are setting new priorities, for the implementation of which we need Mr. Deinert's expertise.”
Klötzner also emphasized that digitalization is a key lever for increasing efficiency : "Especially in times of budget consolidation, it is crucial to continue offering citizens high-quality services."
Focus on cloud systems and change management
Deinert himself also has a clear agenda for his new role:
“In the coming years, we will have to manage a complex transformation from historically grown systems to cloud architectures . For this, we need more standards – for example, in procurement, project management, and IT service management. A particular focus will be on professional change management to further develop staff and attract new specialists,” says Deinert.
