Exciting themed tours offer new perspectives on history, culture and architecture
Public guided tours in October offer visitors the opportunity to experience Darmstadt from new perspectives. Whether historical topics, insights into architecture, or unique experiential formats – the program is diverse and caters to adults and children alike.
Crime story(ies) and child-friendly witch tour
Under the title "Darmstadt's Criminal History(ies)," a guided tour through the city center will take place on Friday, October 3, and Thursday, October 31, at 4:30 p.m. The tour will shed light on witch trials, their proceedings, and the fates of those involved. The meeting point is the Residenzschloss (Royal Palace), at the large gate on the market square. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 reduced).
For children, there's the guided tour "No Witchcraft... or Is It? The Good Witch Hanna ," also on October 3rd and 31st at 3 p.m. Tour guide Matthias Lothhammer presents the topic of witch hunts in a child-friendly and entertaining way. Meeting point: Dresden Castle, main gate. Duration: 60 minutes. Tickets: €11.00 (€9.00 reduced).
City Points Guided Tour “Something’s happening HERE!”
On Saturday, October 4th, Andrea Weber and Stefan Illert from the retail space and neighborhood management team will present the development of the CityPoints projects. Free guided tours will begin at 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. at CityLab, Wilhelminenstraße 25. Duration: 60 minutes. Advance registration is requested.
Experience architecture and history
- Glückert House : Guided tours on Saturday, October 4th, at 3 pm, and Sunday, October 9th, at 11 am, 2 pm and 4 pm. Meeting point: Alexandraweg. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 reduced).
- A city tour in dialect : On Sunday, October 5th, at 3 pm, the route leads from Georg-Büchner-Platz to the Martinsviertel district – entertainingly presented in Hessian dialect. Meeting point: Obelisk, Wilhelminenplatz. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 reduced).
- University and State Library : Guided tour of the Science Palace on Friday, October 10, at 5 p.m. Meeting point: Royal Palace, main gate. Duration: 60 minutes. Tickets: €11.50 (€9.00 reduced).
- Castle and Princely Crypt : On Sunday, October 12th, at 11:00 AM, guided tour on the history of the Landgrave family. Meeting point: Residenzschloss (Residence Palace). Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 reduced).
- View from the h_da high-rise : Campus tour with panoramic views on Thursday, October 23, at 4:30 p.m. Meeting point: Schöfferstraße. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 reduced).
Guided tours on the Mathildenhöhe
Guided tours will be offered to accompany the exhibition “Nevin Aladağ – Raise the Roof” until February 1, 2026:
- Saturdays at 3 pm, Sundays at 12 pm (including admission to the exhibition building),
- Special guided tours of the sound installation in the water reservoir: Saturdays at 4:30 pm, Sundays at 4 pm (without exhibition admission).
