Exciting themed tours offer new perspectives on history, culture and architecture
Public city tours in October invite you to experience Darmstadt from new perspectives. Whether historical topics, insights into architecture, or special experiential formats – the program is diverse and aimed at adults as well as children.
Crime story(s) and child-friendly witch tour
Under the title "Darmstadt Crime Stories," the tour will explore the city center on Friday, October 3, and Thursday, October 31, at 4:30 p.m. The tour will explore witch trials, their processes, and their fates. The meeting point is the Residenzschloss (Residenz Palace), at the large gate on the market square. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 concessions).
For children, there's a guided tour called "No Witchcraft... or Is It? The Good Witch Hanna ," also on October 3 and 31 at 3 p.m. Guide Matthias Lothhammer presents the topic of witch hunts in a child-friendly and entertaining way. Meeting point: Residenzschloss, large gate. Duration: 60 minutes. Tickets: €11.00 (€9.00 concessions).
City Points Tour “Something’s happening!”
On Saturday, October 4, Andrea Weber and Stefan Illert from the Retail Space and Neighborhood Management department will present the development of the City Points projects. The free tours begin at 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. at CityLab, Wilhelminenstraße 25. Duration: 60 minutes. Advance registration is requested.
Experience architecture and history
- Großes Haus Glückert : Guided tours on Saturday, October 4, at 3 p.m., and Sunday, October 9, at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. Meeting point: Alexandraweg. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 concessions).
- City tour in dialect : On Sunday, October 5, at 3 p.m., the route leads from Georg-Büchner-Platz to the Martinsviertel district—entertaining in Hessian dialect. Meeting point: Obelisk, Wilhelminenplatz. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 concessions).
- University and State Library : Guided tour of the Science Palace on Friday, October 10, at 5 p.m. Meeting point: Residenzschloss, Great Gate. Duration: 60 minutes. Tickets: €11.50 (€9.00 concessions).
- Palace and Princely Crypt : On Sunday, October 12, at 11 a.m., a guided tour of the history of the Landgrave family takes place. Meeting point: Residenzschloss (Residence Palace). Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 concessions).
- View from the h_da high-rise : Campus tour with panoramic views on Thursday, October 23, at 4:30 p.m. Meeting point: Schöfferstraße. Duration: 90 minutes. Tickets: €14.50 (€11.00 concessions).
Guided tours on the Mathildenhöhe
Accompanying the exhibition “Nevin Aladağ – Raise the Roof” guided tours will be offered until 1 February 2026:
- Saturdays 3 pm, Sundays 12 pm (including entry to the exhibition building),
- Special tours of the sound installation in the water reservoir: Saturdays at 4:30 p.m., Sundays at 4 p.m. (exhibition admission not included).
