15,000 euros annually for creative projects in the neighborhood
The city council of Darmstadt, as part of the urban development program "Social Cohesion," has decided to establish a cultural fund for the Pallaswiesen and Morneweg districts. The fund is intended to support creative projects in the so-called PaMo area and strengthen social cohesion within the neighborhood.
Over the past few years, PaMo has transformed from an industrial district into a hub for artists, cultural workers, and the creative scene. The new fund builds on this development and supports local cultural initiatives.
Funding for concerts, exhibitions and workshops
Funding is available for small-scale, self-contained arts and culture projects implemented in collaboration with local residents. These include concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, open studios, workshops, film screenings, festivals, and cultural neighborhood events.
Mayor and Head of Cultural Affairs Hanno Benz emphasizes that cultural initiatives foster mutual understanding and raise the profile of PaMo as a cultural and creative quarter. Deputy Mayor Barbara Akdeniz also underscores the importance of easily accessible funding for dedicated individuals and organizations in the district. City Councilor Michael Kolmer points to the fund's flexible and unbureaucratic structure.
Part of the "Social Cohesion" program
The geographical area covered corresponds to the funding area "Social Cohesion Pallaswiesen/Morneweg district". The funds, amounting to €15,000 annually, come from the federal-state program "Social Cohesion" and are available until the end of 2029.
Further information on the funding area and on projects such as the “Green space Im Tiefen See” or the “Redesign of the area surrounding the community center” can be found at www.darmstadt.de .
