Successful team of SV 1946 Groß-Gerau
Last Sunday (February 19th) the Main-Taunus district team championships in blitz chess took place in Kelkheim.
The chess club of the district town participated very successfully with a four-person team consisting of Kathrin Peschk, Wander de Gersem, Jan Rother, and Erik Zacharias:
The team became district champions, and Wander de Gersem also achieved a shared third place in the overall individual standings.
Blitz chess is a special form of chess in which each player has less than 15 minutes of thinking time for the entire game.
In this team championship, a time limit of 3 minutes plus a 2-second increment per move was chosen. This is now one of the most common formats in blitz chess tournaments when using electronic chess clocks.
