New fence, lock and other upgrades for more security and comfort
The dog park in Darmstadt's Bürgerpark is open to the public again after extensive renovations. Since mid-June, the area has been refurbished, including a higher and sturdier fence, a gate, and other improvements. The approximately 5,400-square-meter area is now significantly safer and more attractive for dogs and their owners.
Head of Parks and Green Spaces Michael Kolmer expressed his satisfaction: "With the new fence, the gate, and the other improvements, the dog park in the Bürgerpark is now safer and more comfortable for all users. I thank everyone involved for their commitment and patience during the construction phase."
Improvements for dogs and their owners
The renovation became necessary because the original fence, erected in 2020, was too low and unstable. Some dogs were jumping over it, and damaged gates were beyond repair. The meadow had already been improved in 2023 and 2024 with benches, natural stone paving, gravel surfaces, and a digging box.
The following have now been implemented in the current construction phase:
- higher fence with sturdier gates
- new lock for additional security
- Additional waste container on the premises
Further improvements are planned: the gates of the maintenance access road will be lowered, another waste container will be added, and the sandpit will be refilled with fresh sand. In addition, a new tree is to be planted in the autumn/winter.
