Mayor Feick hands over 60 decommissioned but intact emergency helmets to the German Red Cross (DRK) in Reinheim and Zeilhard/Georgenhausen
Around 60 fire helmets, which were no longer needed after the Reinheim fire brigades were equipped with new personal protective equipment, have now found a useful new purpose: Mayor Manuel Feick recently handed over 30 helmets each to the DRK local branches in Reinheim and Zeilhard/Georgenhausen .
As part of the modernization program, emergency responders received new helmets at the end of 2024, meeting current technical standards and providing improved protection. However, an inspection of the decommissioned models revealed that approximately 60 helmets are still in good condition and fully functional. They are ideally suited for use in first aid services at events or to support the fire department during operations – particularly as a supplement to the protective equipment of the German Red Cross .
“I am pleased that with the helmets, which may no longer meet the latest fire service standards but are still completely intact, we can provide meaningful support to our local German Red Cross branches and thus contribute to the safety of the emergency personnel there,” said Mayor Feick at the handover.
