Young people decide for themselves how the donated funds are used
City council chairman Yücel Akdeniz a donation of €1,800 from the city council to the Akazienweg youth center . The donation follows a long-standing tradition of collecting money for charity at the last city council meeting before the Christmas break.
The donated funds are to be used independently and self-managed by the young people at the youth center. The full-time social workers will provide pedagogical support throughout the process.
“In 2025, the city council followed my proposal to present the money to young people at the Akazienweg children's and youth center. Thankfully, a total of €1,800 was raised,” explained City Council Chairman Akdeniz. The aim of the donation is not only to bring joy to the young people, but also to strengthen responsibility, equal opportunities, and democratic participation.
The donation was presented to house representatives Chezel Wiggs and Brian Peschel. Both expressed their gratitude on behalf of the children and young people, saying they were very pleased to be able to decide together how the money would be used. They emphasized the importance of participation and the need for responsible use of the funds.
