Forest grazing in the Griesheim municipal forest is paused until spring.
As the city of Griesheim announces, the group of donkeys will move to their winter quarters at the August Euler airfield on December 10, 2025. The animals have been supporting landscape management in the Griesheim municipal forest since 2022 through grazing. They will remain at the airfield with other donkeys throughout the winter months before returning to the municipal forest next spring.
Landscape management through forest grazing
The donkeys used help to suppress young shrubs, keep open areas clear, and promote biodiversity. Through their gentle grazing, they contribute to the preservation of valuable habitats in the city forest.
