“My brother makes the sound effects in the sound film” on August 23 and 24 in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal
To celebrate Marie Elfriede Dotter's 98th birthday, the Dotter Foundation invites you to the 70th Dotter Concert in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Darmstadt-Eberstadt. On Saturday and Sunday, August 23rd and 24th, 2025, at 7:00 pm each evening, the program "My Brother Makes the Sound Effects in Sound Films" will be performed – a musical homage to the UFA hits of the 1920s, 30s, and 40s.
With Denis Wittberg and his Shellac Soloists, as well as singer Susanne Anders, the audience can expect an evening full of musical nostalgia and charming entertainment. In the tried-and-tested style of a salon orchestra, the musicians interpret well-known film melodies of this era – casually, with flair, and with a touch of bygone glamour.
Wittberg is considered a master of light music and an entertainer with a commanding stage presence. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by the sounds of the interwar period. Together with his shellac soloists, he has been presenting musical gems from the salon music and UFA era for over two decades – including works by former film stars and unforgettable evergreens.
Benefit for 3D model of the former synagogue
Donations will be collected during the concert to finance a three-dimensional cutaway model of the former Eberstadt synagogue. The project is part of a virtual reconstruction by the Technical University of Darmstadt and is intended to commemorate the destroyed synagogue.
Advance ticket sales for the anniversary concert are underway. The venue is the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal, Schwanenstraße 42, Darmstadt-Eberstadt.
