Common strategies for addiction aid and demand for support from the country
The cities of Frankfurt and Darmstadt have agreed increased cooperation in drug help. Frankfurt's social and health director Elke Voitl and Darmstadt's mayor and social director Barbara Akdeniz emphasize that the operational cooperation that has grown for years should now also be intensified at the political level.
“Both cities pursue the same goal and have built up a well -functioning network of help. Therefore, we stand up to the challenges that many other cities in Hesse are facing, ”explain the two headers.
Darmstadt checks drug consumption space and expands help offers
Darmstadt has further expanded its addiction aid structures in recent years. In addition to existing facilities in which drug people receive advice, meals, hygiene articles and sterile injections, the help system should be further developed.

Frankfurt demands nationwide help offers
Frankfurt has been faced with rising numbers of cracking and fentanyl consumers for years. Social Authority Voitl makes it clear that addiction aid is a nationwide task:
“Crack and fentanyl have long since arrived in small and medium -sized cities. No municipality will be able to duck away permanently. I am pleased that Darmstadt is the first city in Hesse to follow my proposal for collaboration. ”
Last year, Voitl and Mayor Mike Josef called the cities and municipalities in Hesse to build their own help structures. The Frankfurt drug help relies on a differentiated offer with advice, prevention and consumption rooms.
Common demand to the state of Hesse
Akdeniz and Voitl see the challenges in dealing with changed consumer behavior as a national problem and demanding appropriate support from the state of Hesse:
"We also expect financial support in Darmstadt to meet the requirements of the growing scene," emphasizes Mayor Akdeniz. "All major cities of Hesse have to be better equipped, because even after Darmstadt, many consumers come from the surrounding area."
With their collaboration, Frankfurt and Darmstadt set a strong sign of a national drug aid and appeal to the country to take responsibility for nationwide support.
