Gala concert in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal with a special farewell
The Eberstadt Mandolin Orchestra celebrates its 60th anniversary with a gala concert on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the Ernst-Ludwig-Saal in Darmstadt-Eberstadt (Schwanenstraße 42).
The orchestra was founded in 1966 by Erich Kraft – just 18 years old at the time. Six decades later, he still shapes the organization as its chairman. Until 2016, he also served as the orchestra's conductor. After 60 years at the helm, 50 of them as conductor, Erich Kraft is now stepping down, thus initiating a generational change. However, he will take up the baton himself once more at the anniversary concert and conduct a piece.
Musical guests and a diverse program
Birgit Pezza is the musical director of the anniversary concert. The 1st Weinheim Mandolin Orchestra, conducted by Tanja Schmidt, will perform as a guest orchestra. Additionally, mandolinist Nataliya Korschinska from Ukraine will contribute to the program as another musical guest.
The concert spans a range from classical works, including those by George Frideric Handel, to modern rhythms.
Admission is free.
