Young animal Mika discovers the world – observation possible with a little patience
The Karlsruhe Zoo is delighted with its rare new arrival: polar bear cub Mika has recently been exploring the outdoor enclosure with great curiosity – and his tentative steps are causing great enthusiasm among visitors of all ages.
directly next to Karlsruhe's main train station , the zoo is easily accessible by public transport and is an ideal destination for a day trip. The polar bear cubs are currently attracting many families and animal lovers.
Mika is still very young, but already curious and playful. He constantly follows his mother, rolls around his enclosure, or sniffs at everything he encounters. A fascinating sight – provided you have a bit of luck and patience.
Visiting regulations to protect the polar bear cub
To minimize stress for the young animal , a special visiting concept is in place:
-
Every day from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, 50 people at a time are allowed to go in front of the polar bear enclosure for five minutes.
-
Then the rotation changes – this way everyone gets a chance to see it.
-
Mika and his mother decide for themselves whether they go outside – sometimes they stay indoors.
If the little polar bear isn't visible during your visit, there's a live video screen in front of the seal enclosure that shows the enclosure continuously. There, you can often see cute scenes from the bears' daily lives – all without having to wait in line.
