Reading and song evening for the exhibition "Burnt" on May 8th
The Kunsthalle Darmstadt invites you to a special event on Thursday, May 8, at 7 p.m. as part of the current exhibition . The guest is the Berlin cultural activist Ekkehard Maass , who, entitled "Art and Literature of the Underground in the GDR", gives insights into the opposition artist scene of the former GDR.
Maaß, born in 1951, founded a literary salon in his apartment on Prenzlauer Berg at the end of the 1970s - in response to state repression against critical artists. His closeness to songwriter Wolf Biermann brought him to the target of the GDR authorities early on. In his performance in the Kunsthalle, he will also present songs by Biermann.
The event is part of the accompanying program for the exhibition "burned down", which deals with traces and memories in art. Further information is available on the Kunsthalle website: www.kunsthalle-darmstadt.de .
