ENTEGA remains the network operator in the municipality
to be responsible for operating the electricity and gas networks in Weiterstadt The town of Weiterstadt, with 27,000 inhabitants renewed the concessions until 2045. The company reapplied together with its subsidiary e-netz Südhessen AG as part of a joint bidding consortium.
The new concession agreement was signed on December 15, 2025, by Mayor Ralf Möller together with Andreas Niedermaier , Board Member for Human Resources and Infrastructure at ENTEGA AG, and Holger Klein , Board Member of e-netz Südhessen AG. The agreement will come into effect in January 2026 and will run until the end of 2045 .
New tender after the expiry of the maximum term
The renewed tender became necessary because the previous concession agreement expired at the end of 2025, after the legally permissible maximum term of 20 years . With this award, Weiterstadt continues its long-standing cooperation with ENTEGA.
Andreas Niedermaier emphasized at the signing: “We are very pleased that Weiterstadt has once again placed its trust in us. However, we are also aware that this is a great responsibility. We appreciate this trust.” He added that the cooperation with the city has been characterized by reliability and partnership . The renewed awarding of the electricity and gas concessions will continue to be a success for both sides.
