The regional government is reissuing a popular collection of European Christmas traditions.
Europe Direct (ED) Darmstadt, part of the Darmstadt Regional Council, republished the popular book "Europe Celebrates Christmas" 27 EU member states – conveying the unifying message of shared European values and traditions.
Stories from all over Europe
The book vividly describes how Christmas is celebrated in different European countries – from Scandinavian light festivals to southern European nativity scene traditions. It was written by a former trainee at the regional government office, who researched the customs, wrote the texts, and illustrated the book herself.
“Europe Celebrates Christmas” is aimed at children, families, schools and kindergartens and is an integral part of European educational work in southern Hesse.
