Event as part of the European Weeks: “From the trauma of war to the dream of Europe?”
Under the title "80 Years Since the End of the War – 75 Years of European Integration: From the Trauma of War to the Dream of Europe?", the city of Reinheim invites you to a lecture followed by a discussion on Monday, May 19, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in the Heinrich-Klein-Saal . The event takes place as part of the European Weeks.
The speaker is Dr. Carolin Rüger , a political scientist, European studies expert, and native of Reinheim. Last year, she captivated the audience at the Hofgut with a well-informed lecture on European politics.
The focus of her lecture this year is on key questions concerning the present and future of the European Union:
- What is the state of the EU peace project?
- What lessons can be learned 80 years after the Second World War and 75 years after the Schuman Plan?
- What remains of the European idea in times of crises, wars and growing Euroscepticism?
Dr. Rüger, who teaches and conducts research at the University of Passau, will shed light on historical developments and current challenges and provide food for thought for the subsequent discussion.
Mayor Manuel Feick is delighted about the renewed collaboration: "I am very grateful that we were able to secure Dr. Rüger for an event again this year. I look forward to an exciting evening with hopefully many interested citizens."
Admission to the event is free; prior registration is not required.
