From January 2025, the next deadline for the exchange of driving license will take place. The background is the EU Directive 2006/126/EC, which prescribes uniform and falsification-safe driving licenses. In Germany, a step plan regulates who has to exchange their driver's license and when to avoid overload from the authorities. In total, the regulation affects around 43 million driver's licenses.
Exchange in Darmstadt - online and uncomplicated
In Darmstadt, the driver's license can be easily exchanged online. The website www.darmstadt.de will get to the digital town hall. The corresponding application deposited there.
Important: If your current driver's license has not been issued in Darmstadt, you need a so -called index card (file extract) of the authority, which originally issued your driver's license. You can request these in writing or by phone at the body mentioned.
Fees and processes
Fees of 23.50 euros are incurred for the exchange. As soon as the application is fully filled out, the new driver's license will be created. You can then pick it up, the notification comes by post - preferably after prior appointment . Your old driver's license will be devalued on site, but can be taken back on request.
Why timely action is important
Anyone who drives with a non -valid driver's license after the exchanging period has risen high fines and possibly further consequences. So plan the exchange in good time to avoid unnecessary stress.
