Regional Gallery of Southern Hesse exhibits works in the university building / Application deadline for 2026 is September 10th
The Regional Gallery of Southern Hesse in the Darmstadt Regional Council will present the new exhibition “ HAPPINESS ” with works by the Chinese artist LIU XUE .
The exhibition in the north foyer of the listed university building on Luisenplatz comprises drawings, paintings, object art, installations, and performances that also question social boundaries. LIU XUE studied at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt under Christa Näher and was a lecturer at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts from 2014 to 2016. His studies with the renowned stage and costume designer Prof. Rosalie at the Offenbach University of Art and Design (HfG Offenbach) also influenced his work.
Exhibition opening
The exhibition will be opened by Regional President Prof. Dr. Jan Hilligardt on September 16th at 6 pm. The opening address will be given by Frankfurt-based exhibition organizer and curator Max Pauer . An accompanying catalogue will be published for the exhibition.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Förderverein Regionalgalerie Südhessen e. V. (Association for the Promotion of the Regional Gallery of Southern Hesse) . It is open until November 7, 2025.
- Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m
- Friday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m
Visitors are expected to sign the guestbook. Please let us know in advance for better planning.
Application for the exhibition year 2026
Artists from southern Hesse and the Rhine-Main region can apply for the 2026 exhibition series until September 10, 2025.
