Municipal job center strengthens families with almost 1.9 million euros
The Groß-Gerau district's municipal job center received a funding commitment of nearly €1.9 million for the project "famos³ – family-oriented. Active. Together. Open. Social³". European Social Fund Plus and the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs . The project aims to provide targeted support to families facing particular challenges and to strengthen their social participation.
Support for families facing multiple burdens
The project is aimed at families with children who receive or are entitled to citizen's income, social assistance, or child supplement. Particular attention is paid to single parents, families with a migration background, and households significantly burdened by health limitations. The focus is on providing advice and support with managing daily life, parenting issues, and accessing further support services.
“famos³” is being implemented in cooperation with the Caritas Association Offenbach/Main eV , which, with the help of funding, is deploying three educators in the participating municipalities. These educators work directly with the families on site.
Holistic approach with family coaching
A key element of the project is holistic family coaching. Families receive support through individual and group sessions. In addition, there are easily accessible programs in the areas of exercise, healthy eating, culture, and sports. The goal is to strengthen the individual resources of families and improve their long-term social participation.
In addition, a labor market expert from the municipal job center supports the participants in developing prospects for entering or re-entering the labor and training market.
Collaboration across responsibilities
Another goal of "famos³" is to test new forms of inter-agency cooperation. Social assistance, employment promotion, youth welfare, and the education system are to be more closely integrated in order to reach families with complex problems more effectively. To this end, cooperation procedures, new case management formats, and improved communication channels are being developed and tested.
As the project sponsor, the municipal job center of the Groß-Gerau district, with three staff positions, takes over the overall management, coordination of the 14 cooperation partners and the controlling of the project.
Participating municipalities and project launch
of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg , Mörfelden-Walldorf, and Kelsterbach are participating in the project . The mayors of the participating municipalities particularly emphasized the close link between labor market and social policy, as well as the practical benefits for local families.
A workshop with representatives from the municipalities is planned for early February. Interested families can join the project starting in the second quarter of 2026. The goal is to reach a total of 450 participants over a three-year period.
Background on the European Social Fund
