The second phase of construction will start in 2026 in the southwest of the city
Griesheim. The expansion of the fiber optic network in Griesheim is progressing according to plan. While Deutsche Telekom is currently supplying around 5,700 households with fiber optics in the first phase, " Griesheim -East," planning is already underway for the next expansion phase . The work completed so far is on schedule – in some cases even slightly ahead.
Construction will begin in the first half of 2026 "Griesheim-Southwest" , which comprises approximately 3,800 households and 1,800 addresses . This area lies south of Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße and west of Lindenstraße . Construction is scheduled for completion by mid- to late 2027 .
Register now for fiber optic connection
Residents in the new expansion area can already their interest . Once the planning is complete, the addresses will be uploaded to Telekom's booking system. All registered households will then receive an email with the option to pre-order .
Griesheim-East area, fiber optic connections can still ordered free of charge – in conjunction with a tariff. To secure a connection appointment as soon as possible, Telekom recommends placing an order by the end of the year .
Next step: Expansion in Griesheim-North
Following the completion of the southwest section, the final construction phase, "Griesheim-North," . This area encompasses approximately 4,500 households and 2,100 addresses . Construction is scheduled to start in mid-2027 , with an estimated construction period of 18 to 24 months , including the installation of the home connections. Those interested can already register their interest with Telekom.
Public expansion by the NGA network association
Parallel to Telekom's own expansion, the Zweckverband NGA-Netz des Landkreises Darmstadt-Dieburg fiber optic cables in the coming months for around 350 addresses that are currently underserved – the so-called "grey spots" .
In Griesheim, this primarily affects outlying areas and the northern industrial park . Together with the connections already completed in the former "white spots" ( will thus establish a total of over 650 residential connections .
After completion of all measures, Griesheim is expected to have a modern fiber optic infrastructure throughout by the end of 2028 – and thus be ideally equipped for the digital future.
