Second expansion phase starts in 2026 in the southwest of the city
Griesheim. The expansion of the fiber optic network in Griesheim is progressing according to plan. While Deutsche Telekom supplying fiber optic cables to approximately 5,700 households "Griesheim-East," next expansion phase . Work to date is on schedule—in some cases even slightly ahead of schedule.
The expansion will begin in the first half of 2026 "Griesheim-Südwest" , which encompasses approximately 3,800 households and 1,800 addresses . This urban area is located south of Wilhelm-Leuschner-Straße and west of Lindenstraße for completion by mid- to late 2027
Register now for the fiber optic connection
Residents in the new expansion area can now register as interested parties . Once planning is complete, the addresses will be uploaded to Telekom's booking system. All registered households will then receive an email with the pre-order option .
Fiber optic connections can still ordered free of charge Griesheim-Ost area – in conjunction with a tariff. To ensure a prompt connection, Telekom recommends placing an order by the end of the year .
Next step: Expansion in Griesheim-Nord
Following completion of the southwest section, the final construction phase, "Griesheim-Nord," . This area encompasses approximately 4,500 households and 2,100 addresses . Construction is scheduled to mid-2027 , with an expected construction period of 18 to 24 months , including the installation of house connections. Interested parties can also register their interest with Telekom.
Public expansion by the NGA network association
In parallel with Telekom's commercial expansion, the NGA network association of the Darmstadt-Dieburg district 350 addresses in the coming months that have so far undersupplied - the so-called "gray spots" .
In Griesheim, this primarily affects peripheral areas and the northern commercial area . Together with the connections already completed in the former "white spots," the utility association will provide a total of over 650 house connections
Once all measures have been completed, Griesheim is expected to have a modern fiber optic infrastructure across its entire area by the end of 2028 – making it ideally equipped for the digital future.
