Event in the series “Meeting Point School Museum” at the Sebastiansmarkt
As part of the "Meeting Point School Museum Seeheim-Jugenheim" event series, the team of the Seeheim-Jugenheim School Museum invites you to a film screening. The classic film "The House in Montevideo" on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 4 p.m. at Kirchstraße 1 in Seeheim-Jugenheim.
Comedy about morality and money
The film tells the story of the strictly moral professor Traugott Hermann Nägler, who lives with his wife and twelve children in a middle-class small town. When his sister leaves behind a house in Montevideo, Nägler travels to South America with his daughter and a pastor friend to claim the inheritance.
However, his worldview is shaken upon arrival. He initially mistakes the inherited house for a brothel. In reality, his sister ran facilities there for the training and education of young women.
However, the inheritance comes with an unusual condition: within a certain timeframe, a similar moral "transgression" to the one for which he once condemned his sister must occur within Nägler's family. Faced with the large sum of money, the professor begins to question his own moral principles.
Invitation to a joint film afternoon
With this film event, the school museum continues its series focusing on culture, history, and shared experiences.
The screening will take place in the vicinity of the Sebastiansmarkt and is aimed at all interested parties.
