Science city of Darmstadt again receives funding for disabled -friendly adjustments in self -used residential property
In 2025, owners in Darmstadt can also benefit from state funds for the disabled -friendly conversion of their self -used residential property. The state of Hesse provides a total of 3.6 million euros. There is no concrete division to individual municipalities - the allocation takes place after receipt of the application and individual examination.
The prerequisite for funding is a degree of disability (GdB) of at least 50 percent and a level of care from level 2. The amount of the funding is calculated depending on the type and scope of the structural measures in individual cases.
Mayor and Social Affairs Director Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes the importance of the measure: "The promotion of self -determined living is very important for people with disabilities. Due to structural changes, living in the usual environment can often be made possible in the long term - with all its social contacts and the familiar environment."
Typical measures are the installation of lifts or stairlifts, the adaptation of bathrooms and the barrier -free conversion of doors, thresholds or movement areas. The Office for Housing in the Science City of Darmstadt offers individual advice.
Last year around 31,400 euros flowed from the funding program to Darmstadt. This supported, among other things, the installation of three elevators, a bathroom conversion and a stair lift.
